Political quandaries, backdoor diplomacy and farcical rhetoric took centrestage with Yes, Prime Minister during its sell-out run in May—and aside from a good dose of balderdash and stiff-upper-lip entertainment, goodwill came out of its Charity Gala Performance and Dinner.

In keeping with tradition, the charity night was held under the patronage of the British High Commission, and was attended by a host of who’s who, society faces and British expatriates.

Kicking off with cocktails at Raffles Singapore, the Friday night continued with the the Robin Herford-directed stage adaptation of the popular 1980s TV sitcom—updated to reference recent world affairs and the shenanigans and foibles of politicians—at Jubilee Hall.

The cast then joined Phillipson and his wife Julie, British Theatre Playhouse producers John and Cecilia Faulkner and other guests for a late night supper that stretched past midnight.
